I am writing this as the mother of Michael's son,his only child.I was Michael's wife for 17 years. On September 7,2001,my son's Dad died from cocaine & oxycodone toxicity. We had been apart for 4.5 years.My son lived with his Dad until September 2000.I remarried in May 2000.Michael used Valium for many, many years. He had always partied...binged! In July 1998, he had a water ski accident, always an avid h20'r, our son became nationally ranked at a young age. Michael was injured and was prescribed Oxycontin,had numerous surgeries and a new drug habit. My son lived with his Dad,during our seperation and a year after the divorce.He had problems of his own with addictions,he was in crisis care twice and 90 treatment all before he was 17. My son began to use with his Dad, his Dad's girlfriend who was a 21 year old mother to a 2 year old. They partied with Oxy, dancing with the monster! I was made aware of Michael's use in March 2001.My son was mad at his Dad, he was in a treatment facility in Georgia(initially MM wanted people to think he was somewhere other than he really was).I never saw Michael anywhere after July 2001. We had a Protective Order between us; he had threatened to kill my husband and I so many times. Michael died on a Friday morning. My son has been using the Oxy, I have seen him try so hard to get off of it by himself, but to no means he couldn't. I prayed for deliverance from this  monster that was taking my son away from me.On Sunday February 24,2002,after an 11 day "Run with the Demon" he was in a jail cell, sick and hurting, finally coming to grips with what had taken his Daddy from him. Praise God, he is in treatment, God has spared his life so many times, he is becoming reborn. C. loved his Daddy, he cherished him dearly.
