On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

In the past three years of my life I have had to deal with 2 deaths and 2 very close calls. The first death was two years ago(2000)due to an oxycotton overdose. His name is Matt Corey and he was only 22 years old. We grew up together playing little league baseball and then went on to high school together. He was a popular guy and so was/is the drug oxicotton. No one really new it was a problem until it was to late. One night after taking a lethal dose of oxicotton he had a brian aneurism in is sleep and died. He will always be loved and missed dearly. The second person was my beat friend of 15 years and her name is Robynn Williams. She died Febuary 8, 2002. She was a 24 year old girl who could have gone far in life. She unfortunately got lost in the world of drugs at an early age. All drugs were her drug of choice, but the one that ended it all was liquid methadone. She battled drugs and rehabs for many years before her death. All they ever seemed to do was give her one drug to get over the other. So she always new what could get her high. Whether it had to be drank, smoked, snorted etc.. She left behind a 4 year old son, a family and many friends that loved her dearly. What I'm really trying to say is that although oxycotton's are known to be one of the most popular drugs on the streets today, so are Methadone and Morphine which are opiods as well. To my knowledge they are both mostly used for treating heroin / oxycotton rehab patients as well as chronic pain patients. I hate to say it but i really don't see this problem ending any time soon. Especially if the rehabs that are treating drug addicts are just getting them hooked on something else. We can't change peoples decisions. All we can do is educate our peers, friends and family about these deadly drugs. As for the other two girls that got very lucky this year and didn't die but came very close. One of them is back out there doing it again and didn't learn her leason the first time and sad to say the other one will have brain damage for the rest of her life. She is 25 and now has the mental compacity of a 12 year old. So if there's anyone out there thinking about trying these drugs do yourself a favor and think again because the results are not worth looseing lives...Thank You

I took oxycontin for legitimate back pain after several operations and for me it was truly a miracle drug because without it I just wanted to die, the pain was so bad. However, I remained in pain after each surgery and consequently continued to receive oxycontin. When I finally decided I did not want to take it any longer; I felt I was "enjoying" it's affects and continuing to use it in a more "recreational" way. I started to realize I was no longer using it for pain, but rather to get that "good" feeling; where everything I said was witty and funny, I no longer felt nervous and afraid at my new job; and using it just made me feel like I didn't have to be afraid of anything. Needless to say, once I made the horrifying discovery that I was actually "using" oxycontin for these reasons, I immediately stopped using it, and threw away all the oxycontin that I had. It did not occur to me that it was going to be such a hellish experience once I didn't take it anymore; the withdrawl was such torment that I felt like this must be what herion users go thru. I had terrible depression, aches and pains over my entire body, body twitches, trouble sleeping at night, and I truly did not want to get up and face each day. It never occured to me that this was withdrawl; it never occured to me that I was facing a monumental task alone and in total secrecy. My hushand, children and immediate family NEVER knew. But I DID do it, and I did it alone. I don't recommend doing it cold turkey like I did, but it CAN be done. I know now that I have an addictive personality and will never be able to forget that when prescribed any pain meds. in the future. Like an alchoholic I will always live with this. I hope this story helps others who think "it can't happen to me."
