On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

My son, Peter Black, died on 3/23/04. He had come to me in February and told me he was addicted to Oxycontin. He agreed to go to detox. After five days, he was discharged to outpatient treatment. But unfortunately, he thought he should handle this on his own. (Apparently, five days is not enough for the head to clear.) On 3/20, he overdosed on other drugs. He was trying to stay off the Oxy and apparently didn't know how to dose himself with the other drugs. He was trying to self-medicate his withdrawal. The Neurologist assured me this is a common phenomena, when trying to come off Oxycontin. Pete was resusitated that night but died three days later. He was a brilliant, funny, loving, young man who was loved by so many. Pete was caught in the hooks of the disease of addiction. He left behind a 15 month old son. His three sisters, and I are devastated, as are many others who loved him. But we won't be taking drugs to kill that pain. This kind of pain heals very slowly. The only way through it, is to feel it. We live in a culture that refuses to accept pain of any kind, emotional, mental, or physical. Many well-meaning friends have suggested we should take "something" to help us get over this. Our pharmaceutical companies have seduced physicians and patients alike with the illusion that life can and should be pain-free. They are pushers, wearing fine clothing, driving company cars, bearing gifts of fine catering and promises of "conferences" held in exotic locations, all expenses paid of course, Doctor. That seduction, based in greed, is evil. I am outraged. I am heart-broken. I miss my son. He was 23.....Ed Bisch..Please see my FDA page at the top of the site and write the officials, until all of US parents get off our asses and do this...these DEATHS will continue....:(

Hello to all who think drug abuse is a joke. I would like to share my story with everyone out there who is still using. My boyfriend of two years died on March 12, 2004 from an oxy/vicodin overdose. He was so alive and then dead in a matter of moments from a pill that doctor's are so readily giving out to people. The problem with Kraig, he always wanted more. I tried to help him the best that I could but he wanted more. He described the feeling he got as better than 10 orgasms. I think sometimes if he could take that thought back if he could only be alive today. Kraig's friends are still using and abusing and I fear that I will walk in and find one of them dead as well. I hope noone ever has to walk into their home after their boyfriend or loved one has been dead for 6 plus hours. The smell of death is something I will never forget. The pain is all too real for me as Kraig's death only happened two months ago. I wish I could tell everyone Kraig's story if it might just save someone. I wish I could tell the doctor's how angry I am for them dispensing such a powerful drug for such minor pains. I did a study of my own and found out how easy the pills are to get. It should be illegal. Well Kraig Michael I hope someone learns something from your story. Remember I will always love you. Missy
