On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

First, please accept my sincere condolences of the many who have lost a loved one due to drug overdose/abuse. As with any narcotic or alternative analgesic medications, education of the prescribed meds and medical evaluation is a must. Furthermore, let me state, individuals who are prescribed narcotic meds for pain management are not addicts. The millions of patients rely upon these medications not to get HIGH but to live a more productive, normal life; dependant yes but not an addict. To further enlighten the millions who believe the medical profession are to blame for the easy access to our drug problem, think again. We must look to Pharmacys, Drug Reps and the Labs. On the average, Drug Enforcement Agency audits vary from 2 to 4 years. How many people actually count their medication ensuring they were given the correct amount??? During your next visit to the Pharmacy, observe who fills your Rx; a tech! Who's to say this individual just may be taking 2 or 3 pills for other purposes. When we demand a drug be totally eliminated or restricted for the dying, we are not solving the problem; only depriving the millions who do require these medications. Yes, Im a user of oxycontin due to a severe back injury. 3 surgical procedures, epidural injections and experimental pain management therapy which caused a life threatening situation; therapy being anti-sezure meds. After numerous evaluations by neurosurgeons, neurologist and pain managment specialist, oxycontin was recommended. I take my meds a prescribed, see my doctor on a monthly basis and physical therapy. I work 40 plus hours per week, enjoy life without the fear of the horrific pain I experienced for years. Education and research is the key. Oxycontin is dangerous when placed in the hands of the addicts and young adults who have one purpose in mind; getting high. Writing ones congressman, state medical boards, etc will not eliminate the deaths of so many loved ones. The foregoing is factual information gathered from American Medical Association, Pain Management Clinics and Department of Drug Enforcement and my own personal experience; Im a Probation Officer and of the 150 clients under my supervision, oxycontin is not a drug of choice. In closing, educate your children, talk with your doctor and pharmacy expert. The internet has vast amounts of information pertaining to this subject. God Bless and may Be heal the hurt and pain in the loss of your loved ones. Sincerely, Ed Mitchell
