On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

I have a name you can add to the list. Gary Cruise was a strapping San Francisco fireman. Gary was my coworker and my friend. Both Gary and I were injured on separate fires while working on one of the busiest truck companies in the City. I was retired out in 1988. I have been on Oxycontin for 5 years now with no bad results. My pain is legitimate and Oxycontin (when used responsibly) is a Godsend to those of us with chronic intractable pain. Gary had undiagnosed sleep apnea. The doctors put him on Oxycontin for his spinal injury. One evening in November, Gary took a larger than normal dose due to the increased pain and stopped breathing. His wife found him lifeless in bed the next morning. I mourn the passing of my friend. If you are on Oxycontin, or any other prescription medicines, follow the doctor's and pharmacist's directions. If you have sleep apnea DO NOT USE THIS DRUG. Or, use it under strict supervision. It isn't the drug that is bad. What is bad is that people are not being followed closely by their doctors. This is a good drug for people in severe physical pain. It is a killer for those who are not.

My brother passed away from oxy 01/11/01. He had a lung disease and was taking prednisone for years, since age 16. He was 32 when he passed. The prednisone broke down his bones, and he had a fall which messed up his back. He then went to a pain clinic where they put him on oxy. That did help the pain some what. He was found dead in his appartment due to oxy overdose. He didn't know how much he was taking (it was ruled accidental). My 32 year old brother died from cardiac arrest because of oxy. Please, please, be careful if you are taking it. I would do anything to have him back. My life is a mess now without him. He was my best friend and only sibling. My mother found him and had a heart attack. Just remember your family when you are taking this drug. Be careful!
