On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

Type:Abuse Story

Date:11/7/2002
My best friend used OxyContin for just a few months. In that time she managed to end up in the hospital due to heart problems. She thought that the drug was harmless- that since it was a persciption medicine it wouldn't hurt her. She was wrong. Her health is better now, but she got into legal problems. She forged checks so that she could get OxyContin. She was lucky- she got off from those charges- but she had to go to a drug rehab program. OxyContin has hurt so many people, it's abuse is so wide spread- it has to be stopped- I do not want to see another death because of this damn drug!! Purdue Pharma L.P. should be made responsible- they did not put proper warnings on their labels. I want to lead in the campaign to make sure that no one ever gets hurt ever again!!! I want this drug pulled off the market. I urge you to write to your congressmen, judges, mayors- anybody with some power- together we can make a difference!! A special note: To all of you people who steal the drug off of your sick relatives who needs this drug- I promise you will face the maximium charges- that's how my best friend got involved with it- and I will not let it happen again!! I Love You!! TH!!

Type:Chronic Pain Story

Date:11/7/2002
Thank you for a well crafted and informative website. It came up as the #2 hit on a google search. I have been in chronic pain for several months due to a car accident. Today, my doctor prescribed oxycontin, and as I always do before I take a medication I am unfamiliar with, I check out the web for more info. While I am not a drug abuser, I thank you for your warning message. Perhaps the loss of your son will at least serve to help many, many others who don't know what they're doing when they mess around with drugs. Thank you.

Type:Death Story

My name is Annette Parrott-Lane. On July 7, 2002, oxycontin in combination with other Rx drugs claimed the life of my husband of 8 years, Mark Allen Lane. Mark was a wonderful loving husband and father. He was my soulmate. He was a hard worker (coal miner) and an avid writer of prose and poetry. In July of 1997 my husband was involved in a mining explosion that left him severely burned on over 60% of his body. We spent almost two months in the ICU Burn Unit at the University of Kentucky Hospital. It was during/after that accident that Mark began abusing prescription drugs (on a regular basis), in part because of the physical pain and the effects of post traumatic stress syndrome. Even though he used/abused painkillers (Lorecet, Vicodin, Loratab), and depressants (Xanax, Valium...) he would not go near Oxycontin or Oxycodine because he knew that they were dangerous. On the afternoon of July 7th, I left our home with our 2 year old daughter to go to church. I kissed my husband goodbye and left for services. That was the last time that I saw my husband alive. That evening, someone, a friend or acquaintance, I'm not sure who, introduced Mark to Oxycontin. To my knowledge Mark had NEVER taken this drug before. He died that night at home in our bed. He just stopped breathing. His mother found him that way. The paramedics were called but dispute all of their efforts they could not bring Mark back. That night I lost my best friend, husband, and soul mate to death. My two year old daughter lost her hero and father. His mother lost her dearest son. Mark was 34 years and 9 days old the day he died. He is greatly missed.
