On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

I'm both saddened and yet amazed as I read through these many stories. I truly am saddened by the many problems people have faced with abuse Many of you will be upset at my comments, but I feel I need to add them. I am a cancer survivor and former OxyContin user...I used them as they were prescribed to me. I took them every 12 hours and never crushed, snorted, injected or chewed them. I never bought them off the street or sold them or gave them to anyone else. My pain was very well controlled during my treatments. I started taking them early on in my therapy. The drug is actually indicated for "moderate" pain and not just "severe". My doctor always checked my pain on each appointment and adjusted the dosage if my pain was worse. My cancer got worse and spread, so my dosage went up. Through a year and a half of treatment, I became cancer free and the doctor now titrated OxyContin down...no problems at all. This drug to me was wonderful. It helped me get through each day pain free. These bulletins all cry out to this horrible drug and horrible company who markets it. This and many other pain drugs are abused each and every day! If they aren't taken correctly, people get hurt and can die. You don't go to the gas station and drink the gas, do you? Why? Because that's not the intention of the fuel. If a doctor says take this every 12 hours, that means every 12 hours. Not every 3 hours...not in a needle...not up your nose. In one posting I saw the person was mad because the company marketed this drug wrong. That is amazing! Don't bad doctors have any responsibility? If a company told a doctor that he should prescribe something, doesn't he - the doctor - have a responsibility to know what it is on his own? Also, this is the only drug company doing anything for prescription abuse - not just their own drug, but all of them. And yes, 1 billion dollars is a lot of money, but I don't see people complaining how much money the airlines make! Or the auto companies! Or the other pharmaceutical companies! There are a lot of people in pain throughout this country...so I don't think this is a money issue at all. I do get upset with this because I know other cancer patients that have had their Oxycontin not prescribed anymore because of this fear of abuse. These people are in pain. Other drugs don't work as well. And other drugs used for cancer, like Vicodin and Duragesic, have had plenty of overdoses and deaths as well when not used correctly. So, who are you really mad at? The drug company? The pill? Where is the responsibility? I never saw any pill jump down someone's throat or up their nose or in their veins by itself. Responsibility. It's sad to think that the war on drugs is a war on not treating pain properly........................................................................... Ed Bisch: This drug should be for cancer and SEVERE pain only...Many legitimate patients have had major problems with this drug.

I'd like to say i have been taking oxycontins for 6 months now.My brother likes to abuse pain killers an knows i get them an when i go get my prescription he is at my house every other day wanting me to give him a pill. He'll tell me his heads hurting or his back is or hes got a toothache an so on.Seems crazy to me because a couple months ago one of his "friends" had him snort a what he thought was 7.5 lorecet ,turns out it was a 80mg oxycntin almost killed him right there yet he still wants the oxycontins.I know people who have abused crack, marijauna, and other type pain killers but nothing ive seen is as addictive these pills! They do help me to stay pain free but for anyone who is thinking of abusing oxycontins DONT its Satan in tablet form when abused....
