On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

Type:Chronic Pain Story

I was put on oxycontin for my arthritis pain. MY doc told me it was a wonder drug and it would help with the pain. It helped a great deal with the pain for a while. THen I needed more and more to take away the pain. My doc would not increase my dosage. So I found another doc to write rx for it too. I knew that I would get caught because of the report docs run for insurance companies. So both docs sent me to a pain clinic to deal with my chronic pain. The doc at the pain clinic lowered my dose and I would count my pills to see if I could take more without running out. I ran out a few times and went to the ER where they gave me a few more to get me buy. I went to the pain clinic for 6 month then I was released back to the first doc that gave me this drug. I had a major flar up of my RA and tried to call my doc, it was a Sunday but I paged no call back. So I finally went to the ER where they gave me shot and sent me home. Well during the flar up I took more oxycontin to help with the pain. I ran out early. I called my doc to get a refill and he said no too early. Even though he knew the situation he would not fill it. I went thru withdrawels and it was horrible. I could not understand why my doc would let me do that? I am know finding out how addictive this drug really is. I am angry that my doc never told me how addictive it really is. I have lost out so much over the 5 years of oxycontin use. I am so far going on 3 weeks of detox but I still have the craving for the drug. I am taking legal action against my doc and I just hope that people stop taking this drug. Although it may seem wonderful at first, do not take that first pill. It could cost you your life.

I lost my brother 01/11/01 to oxycontin. He had a chronic lung disease since the age of sixteen. He was on a steroid because of it. He fell and hurt his back and the pain was so severe they put him on oxycontin. He passed away by cardiac arrest at the age of 32 because of oxycontin. I feel that the doctors don't monitor it well enough. His pain was so severe and the oxy is the only thing that could take the edge off of his pain. This is a very dangerous drug, and needs to be monitored better. Although I am greatful that his pain was controlled a bit more, I am more angry and sad about what this has done to him and my family. My parents and I are grieving this sudden loss and I am left with no siblings. Something needs to be done to take this drug off the market and off the streets! So many young, innocent lives are being taken because of this so called "miracle drug."
