It seems like oxys will haunt me forever. Yesterday I went to the doctors with my 24 year old daughter who is four months pregnant and found out she is still doing oxys even though she is pregnant. She called me a couple months ago to see if she could stay with me for a couple of weeks until she got an apartment. I told her no because I've been through hell with her. The last time she moved in with me she was dealing drugs and she got my husband to try them and he became addicted. He's been clean from them for over a year but it has changed him so much. He can't get over his depression and has a hard time getting out of bed. She was often violent and I once found an oxy 80 on my bathroom floor. My grandson, who I babysit two days a week (My son's boy) could have easily gotten a hold of it. I felt like I was walking on pins and needles all the time when she lived here and it's a horrible thing to say because I love her dearly, but I can't help her. She has to want to get help and I would rather be dead then live in that situation again. My house was being robbed, I was being stolen from and I feared she would go crazy and murder me in my sleep. Anyway when she asked me if she could move in she told me she had been clean for a year and then had done them for a couple of months and quit when she found out she was pregnant. That was a lie. The doctor asked her about drugs and she broke down crying and admitted she had been doing them all along. She looked at me and said "I didn't want you to know" Later she told me she can't quit because the withdrawal is so bad and she can't sleep or eat. I guess she will be talking to someone next week about getting on methadone, but according to the doctor the baby will be born addicted to the methadone and have to be weened off. How sad. I fear for the baby. Even if it comes out okay, what kind of mother will she be? But in defense of PurduePharma- I would not be living my life today if it weren't for OxyContin. I had been in severe migraine pain for SEVEN years before starting on OxyContin- and Thank God I did! I've been on it for 2 years, and TAKE IT THE WAY IT IS PRESCRIBED. I've maintained on a steady dose in all that time, and have not had any problems. In fact, I've been able to go back to school, full time work, and enjoy time with my friends and family. All because OxyContin helped ease my pain. I don't crush it or chew it or cut it and snort it. No one but my parents and doctor know that I'm on it, and it's kept locked up in a safe so the kids/pets can't get into it. I've also been on Fentanyl pops for the past year for breakthrough pain, and same as before- I've had no problems. I think that if all the people who've died had taken it properly, then they wouldn't have died. Simple solution. Don't blame the pharmaceutical company. Blame the doctors who don't KNOW the patients, and blame the unethical pharmacists. Also blame the idiot patients themselves for either not taking it right- OR even selling it!!!! I have true, real pain, and if it hadn't been for the OxyContin and Actiq saving me, I would have driven my car off a cliff a looooong time ago. But its a daily struggle for him, He attends meeting every night, to help fight it, Im also curious is there anyone who knows of a petetion to sign so it can be sent to the proper people to show all the people who are affected by this " DEATH PILL " Also i heard that PURDUE PHARMA si now making the oxi's with NALOXONE in it, so even if you take it you cant get high, Im wondering if there is any truth in this, If so please let me know where i can go to read it. Thank you .....Purdue and the abuse resistant pill was nothing more than a PR stunt. The last I read was David Haddox called it a HOLY GRAIL.
