On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

Darren ([email protected]), as a struggling but recovering addict, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, "Narcotic drugs do not, in and of themselves cause addiction!", is complete BS! This is what i meant to type before, the rest of what you wrote for the most part i agree with. It doesn't really matter if you claim to be a pain specialist, your claim that that narcotics do not cause addiction is completely YOUR opinion which happens to be false. thats all i have to say

As a chronic pain management professional, I ask only that you recognize one simple truth. Out of all the people who have died as a result of the intake of oxycodone, it is virtually impossible to find a case in which the medication was (1) being taken by someone for whom it was prescribed, in the manner it was prescribed; (2) someone who was taking an oxycodone product by itself, apart from other nervous system depressants like alcohol, benzodiazepines, etc.; or (3) being prescribed by members of a practice who attend continuing educational meetings in groups like the American Academy of Pain Medicine, or the American Society for Addiction Medicine. Purdue Pharma is not to blame for the misuse of medications: each and every person who died from misuse of their product is to blame for his or her own death. I look for forward to each day in which I can meet and treat a patient who has previously been neglected or denied adequate care because of ignorance in the medical community about what these drugs can and cannot do. Narcotic drugs do not, in and of themselves, cause addiction. Addiction is a mental health disorder in which a person tries to fill some spiritual void in his or her life with a chemical, a habit, or other vice. Fill the void some other way, and you avoid drug misuse that can kill.
