As a chronic pain sufferer from previous auto and boat accidents he was taking Vioxx, Bextra and similar medications that anti inflamatory. He felt they didn't do anything for him. One day he decided to go online and start to purchase pain killers knowing his own history. And that started his downfall a year and a half ago. Since then, he started doctor shopping at "Pain Management" offices after the on line service shut down. Oxy, Vicidin,Xanax,Valium & Norco. I watched a man who worked a great program become a person I didn't know, and a liar. I have had to write 3 Pain Management centers to shut him down. He lost a job, and was bearly holding on to another one. Anything I found I flushed. I got so sick and tired for waiting for him to quit and also feared since he drove in that condition, that he may kill himself or take another innocent person with him that I had his van disabled on a couple of occassions. Also, he was so catatonic, I feared he was going to OD. My Father In Law and I put him in Detox, and he was clean for a couple of months, even was in an outpatient program and then he started back on the OXY again as well as the other drugs mentioned here. He has been back and fourth so many times since with the drugs I don't know what is going to be. He picked up a white chip a couple of weeks ago and changed sponsors a few months ago. I know it is up to him. He has not been able to put more than 90 days together at a time. God help him, I hope he makes it and beats this monster. I hope he decides he's had enough and makes it.

Name:Please help me understand Email: Type:Abuse Story Date:2/3/2005	The other day I went to the hospital to see a friend who had overdosed on OC's and I have had friends that have used and used for years and you would think they are immune to the drug yet several have died in the last few months from overdose. Only this time is different this friend is in the hospital in a coma like state and I have tried finding information on overdosing on OC's having this reaction. I can't seem to find any cases where the person didn't die? Or atleast this wasn't the outcome. The doctors say that there is little brain activity yet he could come out of it. The way he looked at us when we were in the room was the worst feeling I have ever felt he lay there unable to move or speak yet I know I could see it on his face he wanted to say something. (I haven't given up that he won't come out of it. God can work miracles and I believe God has his hand on my friend right now and he will help him and his family.) Below the neck his body seems to respond just the brain isn't functioning the same. I guess my question is there anyone out there who has been through this? Is there a chance for him to come out and function still. Are these effects long term? He is also on oxygen will he always have to be? Any help anyone could offer would be very helpful. I don't know how to ask the doctors and it is very touchy with his parents I just really need help understanding what is going to happen to my friend? Thank you for your time.

Name:Jeff Email:[email protected] Type:Abuse Story Date:1/31/2005	I was taking 10 to 15 oxy 40s every day or 7-8 methadone when oxys were unavailable. This lunacy started in Sept 2001 and ended Jan 21 2005. I detoxed at home using advil and immodium ad. Its true that the immodium helped with my withdrawls as well as alot of prayer. 36 hours into my detox I went to an NA meeting. Alot of people say I should have been dead as I had taken 1 oxy 40mg every hour for 24 straight hours. I thank GOD I am alive and if I can do it anybody can as I was am and always will be a DRUG FIEND, I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired. MY FRIEND, if you are reading this then you to can stop the craziness. I'm 11 days clean and just for today I will not use. GOD BLESS THE ADDICT WHO STILL SUFFERS!!!
