I started using other painkillers for a knee injury at the age of 14 than the next thing I knew I was a junkie at the age of 16. Spending all my money and time on the drug oxycontin. I hide my habit for a long time from my friends and family lieing to them sneaking behind their backs to get money or my painkillers. Than it got to bad to hide the withdrawls I went through when i didn't have the drug in my body. I lost my boyfriend of 6 years because of my habit he confronted me about the painkillers I was using he said you promised it would not get this bad either you quit or I'm done with you. I told him it was none of his bussiness and that I was leaving I left him that night. It was 7 weeks to my wedding date and I walked out on my fiance and cancaled our wedding and my habit got worse now that he was out of my life. I lost the love of my life I started hitting rock bottom my one friend said Lisa you are gonna end up dead you are nodding off anywhere and just not caring about yourself or anyone you need help. It was hard to admit I was a junkie and he was a junkie just like me,but not as bad as I was. My mom had these two friends Kathy and Clyde who were junkies as well they were addicated to herion for 4 years and were now clean and off herion, who got into a methadone clinic which doses you with metadone which controls your cravings and prevents your need to get "high" from using oxycontin and herion. The clinic provides you with consuling and group therpy as well as medication which you can take to avoid using drugs. But however people sometimes don't take this serious that if you do drugs on top of Methadone it can cause you to overdose before you can get high from it. With out the methadone clinic and the help of my mom, kathy and clyde and my ex-fiance coming back into my life I would have been died. I also helped my best friend Lisa who was a junkie as well get into the clinic with me. I'm happy to report that we have been off the oxycontin and all other drugs for (3) months now. My doctor prescribed these for my chronic pain.Things were going pretty good until a friend of mine introduced me to crushing and snorting them. I liked the feeling it gave me. I started snorting them a couple of times a week, then it became a daily habit. Now I can not function without them. I get a prescription, but that is gone in 2 weeks. I have to buy a 2 week supply to get through until that next script. I have maxed out all of my credit cards, depleted the bank account, lied to my family to get money and I hate the person I've become. I never thougt this would happen to me. I never abused alcohol or drugs in the past. The OC's are very addicting. I'm going in for treatment soon. My life has been a living hell for the last 16 months. On Nov. 20, 2002 he took his own life due to severe depression and paranoia r/t oxycontin, this drug is a killer in more ways than just overdoses.
