On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

Hello.I'm 22 years old, and to everyone out there who has experienced a loss of someone dear to them.I know the sorrow. In May of 2001 my closest friend since we were small children died behind the steering wheel of his car in his driveway of an Oxycontin overdose. The same car I had sold him just weeks earlier. He was with another "friend" of ours the night he died. He was a passenger in the backseat of this "friends" car, and during the evening had chewed up and swallowed an 80mg "oxy" after the affects of the drug ran it's course,he was taken home, and helped into the driver seat of his car,and his house key put under the welcome mat of his home, but he never made it out of the car. He sat there and died w/ his father and stepmother inside the home.I miss him and think of him daily. He was a very good friend, and had the rest of his life ahead of him.I had taken oxycontin prior to his death, and after his death swore to never pick it up again,I succeded for over a year, and am now taking them whenever available.I know that this sounds awful, and it weighs on my mind heavily.this drug is so powerful it is all you think about. It is ruining my life.I live in a small town, and even here you can almost go anywhere to get this drug.It is readily available.I have never taken anything so addictive.I have found myself stealing, lying, and decieving to get"oxys",and when I don't have them I can barely get out of bed.I am not going to lie to everyone on here and say that i am clean of this drug because i'm not. all i can do is try.I love my family very much as well as my own well being. This just goes to show the potency and addictivness of this drug, but even with my addiction i know in my heart that with the right help i can beat this, and thats what i intend to do. I give much sympathy, compassion, and understanding to everyone that has lost someone dear to them.As well as anyone that have lost themselves to this drug.I know it can be beaten it is just a matter of time and effort!

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University is presnting a conference in New York City in February 2003 entitled "Feeling No Pain: Substance Abuse, Addiction and Pain Management." As part of the conference we are seeking to present a true account of a person who may have manipulated the system to obtain pain medication (Oxys or not). This could involve: (a) forging scripts; (b) deceiving physicians; (c) doctor "shopping"; (d) representing oneself as a physician to pharmacies; (e) other types of diversion and abuse. We want to show how easy it may be for a determined individual to obtain addictive pain medications. If you fit this profile, have not abused drugs for at least two years, and may be interested in sharing your story, please call me at (212) 841-5277, or e-mail me at [email protected]. More information about our conference can be found at www.casacolumbia.org. William P. Coyle Conference Coordinator
