On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

I sincerely sorry for your loss. It is extremely admirable of you to write about losing your son Eddie. I was prescribed oxycontin first when I was 18. I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome. I went through 4 nerve blocks and a constant increase in oxy dosage. Within 2 years I was prescribed, by one of the most highly recognized pain doctors in this specialty in the country, 80mg of the drug a day. My pain only worsened to the point I could walk even ten feet at a time, the pain med never helped, my pain only increased while taking this. I had to take a pill at least every 5 hours, if I didn't take it within the hours the doctor prescribed me I would go into severe withdrawel symptoms. Once the pain reached a higher level I was even prescribed morphine. I am a college student! Never, should this medication have been prescribed to me! It took me finding another doctor who actually told me that this was extremely dangerous and that basically I wouldn't live long on it and it needed to stop. It took 6 months of detoxing, with no meds for the detox symptoms - mind you, I never abused the drug - the doctors prescribed it for me. I was never completely told of the dangers of the drug and its highly addictive tendancy. Something needs to be done to not only punish but prevent drug companies and doctors from prescribing the medications to the point to where the patient, with a severe medical problem, becomes addicted to a med. These people need to be held accountable! Ruining peoples lives and watching them suffer, or even die, is immoral and it needs to stop. If you have any suggestions on what I can do to get my story out, and take action against those who caused the problem, please let me know. Innocent people should not suffer for the profit of a drug company and a doctor!

Well its me again, and sadly my husband has gone back to the Oxy's. after having 47 days clean, He is now living on in his car i think, or maybe at another person's house. All i know is this Hell in a pill has caused so much damage to me & my family. i really wish the makers of this pill could feel the pain of watching someone they love become addict to this. Then maybe they would do something to stop this, people getting there prescriptions and selling them on the street, apparently they DONT need em, stop writting them out.thanks again ! Laura

I personally have never taken Oxy, but I just recently found out that my oldest step-daughter was caught and suspended from school for buying Oxy off a kid. He was arrested and will be going to jail, he just turned 18 and now will not graduate from school. Other girl that day, was taken by ambulance for over-dosing and almost died. They were able to pump her stomach and put carcoal down her throat to coax the rest. All the same, I cried. Why the need for drugs? I was once a teenager, I tried acid and pot, I hated the wat I felt after the high, so I never did it again. It is not worth it. If you have surgery that is one thing, and chronic pain does suck, I have a cousin who has to take pain killers everyday because her pain, but there should be a limit as to who can have Oxy and who can not. If people have children in the home, then the Doctors should prescribe something else, not that they would not try and get those too, but Oxy is something bad. Not only that, kids are mixing drugs. I found out that my step-daughter not only was taking Oxy but she was also taking Adderol, which, you are not suppose to mix ANYTHING with. She might have done some real damage to herself. We will not find out for about another week. Well, that is all I have to say right now on the subject. But I will try back in a month or so. Thanks for listening and I hope that anyone who is thinking of trying this drug, stops and thinks about their family and who loves them. And to remember that someone does love you. Everyone has some to love and love them back, all you have to do is look.
