On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

My husband's name was Michael A. Kessler, he died March 20, 2004. We were married for 13 years and have 2 children. In 1996 he got hurt at work and had to have neck surgery. That was when Oxycontin came into our lives. In 1997 he hurt his neck again and had surgery. All along the doctor had him on Oxycontin, which lasted for 5 years. In 2002, he finally got off the Oxy's and was like a new man, our life had been given back to us. We began to enjoy life again in a way that was lost to us for such a long time. Then it happened again, in November 2003 he fell and landed flat on his face and hurt his neck again, this time more severe than both times before. He had surgery March 15, 2004, but in the months leading up to that, he was on all kinds of meds (no Oxy's) Morphine, Muscle Relaxers, valium, etc. None worked. Right after surgery the first thing the doctor did was put him back on Oxycontin because he still had pain. I was so shocked that the doctor had put him back on Oxy's after all the pain and suffering we all went through to get him off of them. Five days after surgery and being on Oxycontin, Oxyir for break through pain, Muscle Relaxers and more valium, he thought it would be ok for him to go out and have a few drinks and try to feel normal. I argued with him to not risk his health, but he wouldn't listen, he just wanted to feel normal. As the evening wore on we had gotten in an argument and he left me and I had to walk home. When I got home, I found my husband in our bedroom, he had shot himself in the head, he was 39 years old. My life and our familys lives have been devostated and shattered by this loss. I was starting to plan my husbands 40 Birthday party for June and instead I had to plan his funeral. April 14, 2004 was our 14th anniversary and the most difficult day I've had to live so far. The man I love and was suppose to spend the rest of my life with is gone...all because of Oxycontin and Alcohol. I hope this story will help someone and prevent what happpened to my husband from happening to them. Mike, my love, I will miss you and love you forever.

Type:Chronic Pain Story

Date:4/12/2004
I have been reading your guest book now for about a week, and it has really helped me and my family. My husband of six years has been prescribed Oxy now for about three years due to an injury he got at work and then had to have surgery and now has some permanent nerve damage left over which is where the Oxy comes in to our lives. He started out taking duragesic patches that lasted three days but they made him physically sick so we asked his doctor to change his medicine and that's when he gave him the Oxy's. My husband is 30 years old and a wonderful father of four beautiful little boys and he is a great husband, except now he is totally addicted to this medicine. When he first started taking the med. he did ok with it and then if he had a really bad day pain wise he would take an extra one and there to feel better. I didn't realize how bad it was until I had picked up his med's one day at the pharmacy for him and then a week later I was looking for something and found his medicine bottle 1/2 gone. Of course I confronted him and he told me he would start taking like he was supposed to. The problem is only worse now! He is prescribed 85 20mg Oxy's a month and last month I picked them up for him on a Wednesday afternoon 5 or so and by Monday, five days later he was totally out of medicine. I really didn't know what to do so I just started researching this medicine and found your website which has helped out so much. I printed out some of the stories and took them home to my husband to read and it was a big reality check for him. I have also contacted some doctor's locally that were listed in this area to see about the suboxone and the first doctor right away turned him down because he was legitimally being prescribed Oxy's by a physician(drug dealer). This doctor said he couldn't help us in this situation they pretty much told me that if he was some junkie off the street they would take him right in and help but because he has a doctor that is giving it to him they can't help us. There was only 2 doctors listed in this area that prescribe this medication suboxone and the second doctor that I spoke to is willing to see him but because we don't have insurance they don't know if they will be able to help us either. I really don't know where things are going to go from here but my husband says he wants to be off of the medicine and be normal again, I'm just afraid that by the time we find someone willing to actually help him get rid of this addiction it will be too late for him. Thanks so much for having this website available to people like me without it I wouldn't have known how to try and help my husband. To all of you who have lost someone to this terrible drug my heart goes out to you and your family and I pray every day that my next comment won't have to be listed as a death story. thank you and god bless!!
