On about April 19th 2002 SOMEONE hacked into the old guestbooks and DELETED them. What they deleted was over 500 DEATH and ADDICTION stories relating directly to OXYCONTIN. They also deleted over 100 stories from people who are legitimate patients and most of them need oxycontin for their SEVERE PAIN. I apologize to anyone who took the time to share their stories to HELP warn others. Those guestbooks were somehow a comfort to all who have been affected by this ABUSE epidemic. Please if you are looking for your story then REPOST it. I'm sad to say but by the amount of email I am receiving these guestbook's will rapidly rebuild their SAD tales BUT people need to be warned as to the power of this drug and the deadly consequences when ABUSED.
Please read the other stories and add yours to our guestbook...

My boyfriend of seven years was not a pill taker. The night that he passed away, he had been drinking and partying with his friends. Someone offered him Oxycontin and he snorted it. I'm not sure exactly how much. It was told that he asked to just "sleep on the couch" instead of driving home. The guy whose house he was at heard him snoring loudly, but didn't go check on him. When he went to wake him at 6am for work, he had already passed away . I was supposed to be staying with him that night but told him I was too tired to drive over there by the time I had gotten home. One of life's biggest regrets. I got the call on the way to my work, that he had overdosed. The pain is immeasurable and he is irreplaceable. I don't know why people party with this drug knowing it can shut down your body. I lost my best friend, my boyfreind; I knew him for 16 years. Everyday is a struggle to accept the fact that a pill took his life. I hope that when he took his last breath is was not painful. He left behind his beloved son that night, which I know he never meant to do. It is helpful to read other people's stories - to know that I am not the only one who suffers from losing someone to this medicine. This website has helped me to deal with the pain. He is buried 4 miles from my home. He was buried right next to his father in his home town. He was only 28 years young. He was a timber broker, a logger. He was a big, strong man with beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair. Thank you.

My husband was in a serious car accident 5 years ago. In the beginning he ws perscibed percocet. That seemed to stop the pain in his back and wrist. He met someone and they introduced him to Oxycontin. He convinced his doctor to put him on 20mg, and soon enough that was not enough to quench the pain, he had become immuned. He is now on 40 mg, and he will take up to 8 pills a day. We just had a son, he is ten weeks old and I want my son to know his father, I would like my husband to be there to see him walk and talk and even graduate from kindergarten. He goes through horrible withdrawls and mood swings. I was getting so frusterated when he would spend the last of our money on drugs. I really appreciate this website. It has helped me to see what he is going through the the addiction. As of next week he will be going to his doctor and asking to go through detox, because he realizes the stress that he is putting on the whole family. If anyone has any words of support to help me get through this I would greatly appreciate it. Cursed is the company, Purdue, which has ruined so many lives and families. I hope that you get what is coming to you.

Type:Chronic Pain Story

Date:1/3/2005
Hi from Australia, hope you are having a better new year than I am. This is both a pain and abuse story the biggest problem I have is not really knowing were one leads to the next cause my brain hasn't worked properly for a very long time. I'm currently prescribed '4' 80mg Oxycontins a day for nerve pain after an operation about 4 years ago that went very wrong. While I was in hospital I was getting injections of Morphine every 4 hours for "6" weeks. When I got out they gave me Ordine (morphine liquid you drink) I was on that for months and was a wreck. Then went to slow release Morphine tabs and was still a wreck!!! Finally was put on Oxycontin and for the first time since it all started my brain was working again. I was getting my life back in some sort of order and I was only taking "2" 10mg oxys'a day!!! As I said, now I'm 'prescribed' 4x80's a day. I actually take around "6 to 8" 80s a day and after reading some of the stories posted here I'm starting to wonder why or how I'm still alive!!! SHIT, my brain aint working too well right now but it's good enough to work out that I am really really lucky to be sitting here writing this.Problem two is that I also drink a lot of alcohol. And now I'm not doing this so much for the pain but more for the high! What scares the hell out of me is how am I ever going to get off these things and live to tell the tale. "I can not see that happening,EVER" I know I'm at the limits because I'm constantly vomitting from the high dose, spend most of the day stumbling around and usually see at least 2 of everything. In a way that last sentence sounds kind of funny but believe me it truley isn't. We in Australia aren't behind the rest of the world except when it comes to realising how dangerous these tablets are. We haven't had any 'reported' deaths, certainly nothing that makes a headline anywhere and these tabs have been available here for a very long time. If some one reading this has just started taking these wonder pills, whether for pain or a high, "STOP" right now while you still can!!! My only way out is when I stop breathing in my sleep one night. Seriously people, if you can stop taking these things DO IT NOW!!! Good luck everyone and best wishes for the year ahead, Tony.
